Adidas Consortium, known for its innovative sneaker designs, recently organized the Consortium Cup, a competition where 16 retailers showcased their creativity in sneaker design. While Offspring emerged as the winner, the spotlight was on the iconic Adidas Samba, which served as the canvas for some remarkable designs. Now, the sneaker community eagerly awaits the release of the exclusive Adidas Consortium Samba Collection, featuring designs from Consortium Cup participants Nice Kicks, Sneaker Politics, and Extra Butter.
Taking a closer look at the designs, it’s clear that meticulous attention to detail and a desire to elevate the classic Adidas Samba were key. Nice Kicks’ rendition features a talc-hued tumbled leather upper with suede accents on the toe overlay and heel tab. The branding stands out with a gold-foiled Nice Kicks emblem in place of the standard Samba text. The Three Stripes logo is artfully torn at the edges, giving the design a rugged charm. Co-branding between Adidas and Nice Kicks is delicately spread throughout the sneakers, appearing on the tongues and insoles. The classic gum rubber midsole and outsole complete the aesthetic.
Extra Butter, a New York-based retailer, brings a sunny vibe to their design. The heel features an embroidered logo for the brand alongside a sun design, and yellow shades continue onto the leather tongue, sockliner, and collar. Contrast is created with blue-shaded suede on the toe, cracked leather upper, and over-stitched details on the Three Stripes. A dark gum rubber outsole completes the look.
The Adidas Consortium Samba Collection is set to release on November 15, 2023, through Adidas and select retailers online and in-store. The retail price has yet to be announced, so stay tuned for updates on Sole Retriever’s Twitter and mobile app.
The Nice Kicks x Adidas Consortium Samba comes in a Talc/Brown/Pantone colorway, while the Extra Butter x Adidas Consortium Samba features a Chalk White/Gum/Chalk White color scheme. Sneaker Politics collaborated with Adidas for a Blue Bird/Better Scarlet/Dark Slate colorway.
