Update November 18th, 2023: A public pre-order release of the RTFKT x Nike Dunk will begin this weekend. Two colorways, the “VOID” and a new “GHOST” colorway, will be available at Complex Con. For those unable to attend the event, there will be a public online release on November 20th at 11am EST and 8pm EST on shop.rtfkt.com. Additionally, there will be a token-gated sale on November 19th and 20th starting at 8am EST.
Updated October 17th, 2023: RTFKT has shared an official look at three Nike Dunk Genesis colorways – the OG Edition, Clone X Edition, and Void Edition. The token-gated sale for these colorways will begin on October 18th, with a public sale scheduled for November.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), there are still ongoing projects that have yet to reach their conclusion. The RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis is one such project that is currently in development, with the “Forging Event” set to take place soon.
For the past few years, Nike has been actively building its presence in the metaverse. Teaming up with RTFKT, they have created a collection of digital sneakers, many of which have been turned into physical sneakers. The upcoming “Forging Event” will allow holders of eligible collectibles to redeem their NFTs for an actual pair of sneakers. The event will run from October 18th to the 30th, and three colorways will be available for redemption at a cost of $222 USD in ETH plus gas fees.
In anticipation of the event, RTFKT has provided a sneak peek of an early pair of their Dunk Genesis. The final versions of this colorway, along with two other designs, will be revealed on a dedicated microsite before October 18th.
