Nike has been actively revisiting Charles Barkley’s past signature shoes recently. They have been slowly reexamining Barkley’s signature archives since 2021, with the latest release being his original Air Max CB 94 in the “Varsity Purple” colorway, which is set to make a return in 2024.
The Air Max CB 94, inspired by a straight-jacket, is known for its full-grain leather construction. The upcoming retro release will feature the iconic “Varsity Purple” accents to celebrate the silhouette’s 40th anniversary. The majority of the shoe is covered in colorless tumbled leather, while the tongue construction, elastic straps, inner lining, and mesh punch-hole pockets are highlighted in jet-black. The shoe also features a 180-degree Air Max system in the heel and a vibrant “Varsity Purple” outsole.
The Nike Air Max CB 94 “White/Varsity Purple” is expected to retail for $170 and will be released in 2024. In the meantime, detailed images of the shoe can be found online.
