Nike’s Air Max Plus Drift Set to Launch in Summer 2024

November 2, 2023

Sean McDowell’s Nike Air Max Plus has a storied history within the brand, and as the sneaker celebrates its 25th anniversary, Nike is capitalizing on the occasion by releasing new colors of the classic shoe and introducing the Air Max Plus Drift.

According to Complex’s Brendan Dunne, the Nike Air Max Plus Drift is set to debut in the summer of 2024. The silhouette retains the original tooling of the Air Max Plus but features a new upper design. Upon first glance, the Air Max Plus Drift showcases a breathable mesh base underneath a curved molded overlay that extends the length of the shoe. While there are clear similarities to McDowell’s original design, the updated model distinguishes itself with thicker profile detailing reminiscent of palm trees. Additionally, the Swoosh branding extends from the mid-foot to the heel, further setting it apart from its ’90s predecessor. The sole units mirror the first Tuned Air tooling, complete with whale tail-shaped shanks, border, and rubber traction at the forefoot, but feature new finishes.

The Air Max Plus Drift will make its debut in vibrant gradient colorways, including neon yellow, “Light Silver,” and “Concord.” The most eye-catching colorway, however, will be exclusive to Nike NBHD (neighborhood) retailer partners. Although release details may change, the sneaker is expected to hit stores in April 2024.

Priced at $185 USD, the Air Max Plus Drift is $10 more expensive than the standard Air Max Plus. While awaiting its release on Nike’s official website, check out photos from various retailers showcasing a beige-colored style.
