SoleFly, the Miami-based label, has recently shared exclusive official images of their collaboration with Sneaker News. The upcoming SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 draws inspiration from both Cuba and Michael Jordan’s Minor League Baseball career. The retro sneakers feature a tile design found in old Cuban homes on the wrapping paper and sockliners. The mesh used in the design is inspired by the couches of grandmothers, and the packaging reminisces cigar boxes. The color palette of the collaboration is off white, paying homage to the cleats worn on the baseball diamond. The team colors of the Alacranes del Almendares, an old-school Cuban baseball team, are also referenced, connecting Cuban baseball history to sneaker design.
In the original story back in September 2023, Carlos Prieto, from SoleFly, confirmed their collaboration with the Jumpman and revealed early samples of the Air Jordan 8. After a period of silence, the final design has been unveiled. The SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” is a departure from the earlier samples. However, elements such as the gilded hardware and red accents remain. The base colorway has changed to a combination of white and off-white tones.
