Nike SB’s latest silhouette, the SB Vertebrae, is set to make waves in the skateboarding community. Known for its collaborative efforts with brands like April Skateboards and Crenshaw Skate Club, Nike SB continues to shine a global spotlight on the heart of skateboarding.
The SB Vertebrae joins other popular Nike SB constructions like the Nyjah 3 and SB Leo Baker. What sets this silhouette apart is its rubber cupsole, which provides a more supportive feel across the footbed. This construction is favored by many skaters compared to the vulcanized treatment seen in previous Nike SB releases. Taking inspiration from the veined mid-foot panel on the Nike Air Max Moto from 2002, the SB Vertebrae features a textile panel with rib cage-like detailing, adding a touch of human anatomy inspiration.
The SB Vertebrae showcases a mix of mesh and suede detailing. The vamp is filled with perforated suede, while the heel overlay is made of smooth leather, with a leather accent at the tongue tab. Thick rope laces give the silhouette a distinct look, similar to its SB Dunk Low counterpart. Additionally, lace loops extending from the heel provide a customizable fit to the surrounding sock liner.
The Nike SB Vertebrae is expected to release in the spring of 2024, with a retail price of $85. While further details are still awaited, the silhouette can already be seen in two inaugural colorways.
