Release Information for the Jacquemus Nike Air Max 1 ’86 – 2024

November 13, 2023

In coordination with 2023’s Air Max Day, Nike brought back the iconic Air Max 1 with its original “Big Bubble” tooling. The Air Max 1, designed by Tinker Hatfield, had initially featured this design for a short period before it was recalled due to cracking sole units. The re-release began with the classic “University Red” colorway and was followed by a range of OG and contemporary versions.

Looking ahead to 2024, the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 is set to receive its first collaborative treatment, teaming up with regular Swoosh collaborator Jacquemus. Jacquemus, a high-fashion label known for its bold color palettes, is expected to bring its unique aesthetic to the iconic Air Max silhouette. While specific details about colorways, materials, and storytelling are yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed that the shoe will incorporate the ’86 composition of the Air Max 1.

This collaboration follows Jacquemus’ previous partnerships with Nike Inc. The brand’s creative director, Simon Porte Jacquemus, introduced a luxurious version of the Nike Air Humara in 2022, followed by a set of monochrome J Force 1’s and a bright orange iteration. For the upcoming collaboration, we can anticipate the low-top Air Max 1 to showcase either Jacquemus’ signature neutral tones or its titular vibrant aesthetics.

As of now, the Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86 is expected to release in the spring of 2024. We eagerly await first-look images and additional release details, so stay tuned for updates.

In other news from Nike, the Jordan 4 “Olive” is scheduled to release on November 12th.
