Kevin Durant has always used his signature sneaker line to pay homage to the important women in his life. Whether it’s honoring his late Aunt Pearl or his mother Wanda, Durant’s sneakers have always celebrated the female figures that have shaped him. And now, the Nike KD 16 is set to continue this tradition by honoring the matriarchal figures in Durant’s family.
The Nike KD 16 “B.A.D.” is the sequel to Durant’s third colorway series and is inspired by his grandmother Barbara A. Davis, who passed away in 2022. The shoe features a tonal purple colorway, with a darker violet tint on the mesh upper, tongue, laces, and inner lining. The nubuck full-length overlay and 3D molded caging system are done in a faint lilac shade. The sole unit is also covered in the same lilac hue. While the shoe doesn’t feature the floral imagery of its predecessor, it does have the initials of Durant’s grandmother elegantly rendered in cursive on the left tongue tab and both insoles.
Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, detailed images of the Nike KD 16 “B.A.D.” have been released, building anticipation for its launch. Fans of Durant’s signature line can expect this shoe to be a heartfelt tribute to the important women in his life.
In addition to the Nike KD 16, there are other exciting basketball offerings to look forward to. For example, the Kobe 6 “Reverse Grinch” will be released on December 16th.
