These Bumble x Nike SB Dunk Low Sneakers Are Anything But Abominable

November 24, 2023

When it comes to festive footwear, the beloved Christmas movie Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer continues to inspire custom sneaker artists. Building on the success of the Nike SB “Rudolph” Dunk Low, designed by Brett Battaglia and Isaac Apley, we now have Bumble, the lovable snow monster from the film, lending his name and likeness to the Bumble x Nike SB Dunk Low concept sneaker. This unique piece of footwear comes from the creative mind of designer Dariyn Enriquez.

Bumble, the enormous yet endearing snow monster, initially strikes fear in the hearts of our heroes, Rudolph and his companions. But as the franchise unfolds, Bumble’s gentle soul becomes evident. The Bumble x Nike SB Dunk Low sneaker captures this softer side, incorporating faux fur into the design. Inspired by the 2020 Grateful Dead SB Dunk Lows, these sneakers feature plush side panels, distinctive Nike Swooshes, and tongue designs. However, the Bumble version adds its own touch, with a subtly changed color palette in white, powder blue, red, and black, reflecting Bumble’s distinct aesthetics.

The standout feature of these sneakers is the white faux fur, mimicking Bumble’s fur coat. White suede overlays provide a textural contrast, reminiscent of a trimmed Bumble. Powder blue accents can be found on the swooshes and laces, representing Bumble’s skin tone. The red of Bumble’s mouth is depicted in the plush lining of the ballistic mesh tongue, which also features a graphic depiction of the character. The padded lining ensures comfort during the winter months. The white midsole and blue outsole complete the design, creating a harmonious blend with the shoe’s upper.

While these sneakers are currently only a concept, designer Dariyn Enriquez is working hard to bring his imaginative designs to life.
