Unveiling Zion Williamson’s “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 High

December 13, 2023

Zion Williamson’s “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 Low colorway has gained quite a bit of attention in sneaker culture. Inspired by the rich culture of New Orleans and the city’s iconic voodoo dolls, the original colorway was a big hit. In 2023, Jordan Brand partnered with Williamson to release a new version called the “Voodoo Alternate,” featuring vibrant shades of blue. Now, a high-top version of the popular sneaker has emerged.

Sneaker Fortress, always on the lookout for new and exciting kicks, recently discovered a custom-made “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 High by Zoom Kicks. This high-top variation stays true to the original color palette, featuring tones like “Flax,” “Muslin,” “Fauna,” “Brown,” “Oil Green,” “Sesame,” and “Moon Fossil.” However, it also incorporates unique fabric changes and branding details to give it a distinct flavor.

The design of the “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 High remains loyal to the original colorway, with beige suede on the mid-panel, brown suede on the perforated toe and Nike Swoosh, and stitch details on the profile Swooshes. The rough-textured suede on the tongue and embroidered voodoo-doll graphics on the lateral heels are also present. The designer added a slight cut on the tongue to give the sneaker a distressed look and enhance its “Voodoo” charm. The shoe is finished off with inverted mini-Swooshes on the forefoot, an upside-down “Nike Air” label on the tongue, and braided rope laces.

To set these custom sneakers apart from the original ones, the craftsman used tumbled leather instead of burlap-like overlays to create a rich texture. The tones of green and brown on the overlays are arranged differently on the left and right shoes. The Jumpman logo replaces the decorative stitching on the mudguard and heels, and the brown suede heel tabs with upside-down Wings logos are absent. The sneakers are completed with a vintage-style midsole and gum rubber outsole, along with stitching that matches the original design.

This custom design beautifully combines elements of the original “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 High with fresh twists, resulting in a premium look. However, some fans miss the distinctive brown suede heel tabs, which elegantly revealed hidden asymmetrical ‘Voodoo’ and ‘Zion’ designs on the inner side. Despite that, the high-top version is a great alternative for those who prefer that style.

While Zoom Kicks has not confirmed if they will sell this custom “Voodoo” model, there is a possibility. In the meantime, you can still try to get your hands on the original “Voodoo” colorway, released in November 2022 for $170 USD. They are available on sites like StockX, with prices ranging from $309 to $895 depending on the size. So, if you want to add a touch of mystique and style to your sneaker collection, the “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 High may be the perfect choice for you.
