Walking Through the Tunnel with These Custom Jordan 1 “Brown Boots”

November 24, 2023

Since the iconic signing of Michael Jordan, Nike sneakers and basketball have become synonymous. Over the years, Nike has expanded its line of sneakers to cater to other athletes, including the Jordan 1 “Brown Boots” sneakers. Renowned sneaker artist Jonathan Millar, also known as @jsm_801_customs, created this stunning custom pair for NBA champion Bruce Brown Jr. The colorway chosen for these sneakers features various shades of brown, including a greenish hue, inspired by Brown Jr.’s distinctive outfits.

Starting from the bottom, the sneakers showcase a black outsole and a white midsole, a classic combination often chosen by custom artists. Moving up, a white color scheme dominates the upper, with perforated details on the toe box and quarter, contrasting the Nike Check mark on the side. The collar area’s base is made of smooth black leather, offering a sleek visual appeal.

Now let’s explore the brown overlays that adorn the sneakers. The tip, mudguard, and lower lace stays feature a neutral brown nubuck material that adds a touch of elegance. As we move up the lace stays, we encounter the brown-green nubuck, creating a harmonious blend with the front paneling. The uppermost lace stays feature a lighter brown nubuck that wraps around the ankle, showcasing the Air Jordan Wings logo in black on a lighter brown canvas. Completing the ensemble, the heel counter boasts a rich chocolaty brown shade with hints of red.

The Nike Swoosh on this pair is a fascinating element. The upper’s smooth grey leather showcases stitch holes that separate the white and black from where the original Swoosh was located. However, Jonathan Millar has removed the original Swoosh and replaced it with the Travis Scott reverse check. This eye-catching design is brought to life using nubuck material engraved with a unique boot pattern.

Although these custom sneakers resemble Air Jordan 1s, they have been aptly named “Brown Boots” and feature a debossed rough leather tongue tab with the sneaker’s name. Additionally, the sneakers come with a custom brown leather hang tag, embellished with a basketball image. This pair of sneakers is undoubtedly one of the finest custom creations in recent years. It’s exhilarating to see talented custom sneaker artists receiving the recognition they deserve.
