Matt Groening’s iconic creation, “The Simpsons,” has become a cultural phenomenon over the past 34 years. In a partnership with adidas, the animated family of Springfield has been transformed into a collection of sneakers, solidifying their status in popular culture. As we near the end of 2023, the collaboration between Groening and adidas unveils a new collection that will appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers to the show.
One standout sneaker from the collection is the adidas NMD G1 “Homer Simpson.” This shoe features the vibrant yellow primeknit upper synonymous with Homer’s character, with the show’s protagonist peeking out from behind the lateral 3-Stripes. The mid-foot and spine of the shoe showcase blue detailing inspired by Homer’s pants, and his famous catchphrase, “D’oh!”, is patched onto the top of the tongue.
Another shoe in the collection is the adidas adiFOM Superstar “Clouds.” While not a living character on the show, the clouds that appear in each episode’s opening sequence are iconic. adidas has cleverly reimagined its adiFOM Superstar with an all-over print of these recognizable clouds. The slip-on silhouette is filled with a rich blue color, creating an eye-catching design that perfectly captures the essence of the show.
The adidas Forum Low “Living Room” pays homage to the many memorable moments that have taken place in The Simpsons’ family living room. The shoe incorporates premium materials such as suede, leather, corduroy, and chenille to capture the essence of this iconic space. Vibrant turquoise and pink accents complement the drab brown color, and intricate details like a framed sailboat painting on the tongue and a Santa’s Little Helper graphic on the spine add to the shoe’s charm.
While specific release dates have not been announced, the collection is expected to drop throughout November. Fans can anticipate the release of all three pairs on adidas.com. In addition to the Simpsons collection, fans of Michael Jordan can look forward to the return of the Cherry 12s on October 28th, catering to the whole family.
