Just a few months after Kevin Durant announced his signing with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019, he and his business partner Rich Kleiman founded Boardroom, a media entity focused on the intersection between business and sports. In partnership with Nike, Boardroom will now have its own version of the Nike KD 16, following the release of Durant’s 16th signature silhouette with the brand this Fall.
Durant has always given his close friends and industry partners the opportunity to put their own spin on his signature series. Whether it’s through collaborations with his childhood friend’s clothing brand Enspire or the Producer Pack that teamed up the KD 15 with Durant’s favorite hip-hop producers, Durant has made it a point to involve those closest to him. The “Boardroom” inspired Nike KD 16 is no different, as it adopts the media brand’s signature monochromatic color palette, with the entire upper in a sleek black shade. The Boardroom iconography is stamped on the insoles, while the left tongue dial features the logo of Durant’s 35 Ventures investment firm, which supports the media network. The shoe is completed with a cream sole unit reminiscent of the popular “Off-White” inspired KD 15s, and dark “Obsidian” accents on the TPU wings and outsole.
